Sustainable Development Goals in Fashion & Space SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

For 17 days, we will be sharing a glimpse into how the fashion and space industries engage with each of the 17 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) put forward by the United Nations.

In this seventh of the series, we examine goal number 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

One of the lowest hanging fruit for developed countries is to invest in and begin transitioning to clean energy sources. The incentive to keep costs down should encourage us all to not only monitor and adjust our energy consumption throughout our day-to-day but also for companies to seek ways to manage carbon footprint in their much more complex operations. While companies make promises to transition to carbon-positive operations in the next 30 or so years, the demand for fossil fuels continues to undermine the call for transformational change. It might be through a million nudges, rather than swift and broad action, but there are activities supporting this goal, as presented below:

While these lists aren’t comprehensive, the goal is to demonstrate the potential impact through shared efforts between the two industries, in addition to their potential impact independently. We would love to hear from you in the comments about other areas or opportunities you see or are working on.
