For 17 days, we will be sharing a glimpse into how the fashion and space industries engage with each of the 17 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) put forward by the United Nations.

In this second of the series, we examine goal number 2: Zero Hunger.

You’ll notice overlap in the potential impact from SDGs 1 and 2. This is generally a good thing, as it means that by making efforts to work towards one goal, we can also positively impact another goal. Similar to SDG n.1, No Poverty, SDG n.2, Zero Hunger, has a lot to do with responsible, sustainable, and well-informed farming. Fashion’s impact has to do with the production of natural fibers that require either farmland for growing crops or grassland for grazing livestock.

This exercise can also help organizations decide where they can have the most potential impact, and where they can look for partners, suppliers, and customers to be making an impact of their own.

While these lists aren’t comprehensive, the goal is to demonstrate the potential impact through shared efforts between the two industries, in addition to their potential impact independently. We would love to hear from you in the comments about other areas or opportunities you see or are working on.
